DAV was established in 1919. The story has it that it was founded at a Christmas party by an ex-Cincinnati Superior Court Judge named Robert Max. However, official operations were started a year later in 1920.

Disable American Veterans has pledged to provide lifetime financial assistance to disabled Veterans of the US Armed Forces. It also offers other essential services free of cost, including outreach programs, rehabilitation for homeless veterans, and provision of relief drafts and supply kits in case of natural disasters.

One of the most famous initiatives was free transportation to and from medical facilities for disabled veterans. This was limited to the centers accredited with the US Department of Veteran affairs. Moreover, DAV advocated for legislation needed to the improvement of military veteran lifestyle in the country.

You can make financial donations to Disabled American Veterans at local chapters and donation bins. The organization is currently accepting donations of household items, toys, electronics, clothing, furniture, and much more. Vehicle donation is also an option as the company then uses it for transportation or disabled veterans.

More donation bins and local chapters will be set up in the coming days and it is operating Red Racks Thrift Stores that are expected to create more branches soon too. The company has also partnered with Savers to extend its network of collecting and accepting donations.
